Congratulations on securing admission! If you would like to work with me, please come by my office to discuss. The starting point is usually taking one of the courses that I offer and demonstrating your research potential via the course project. That said, please check the CSSL page to see if we are recruiting students -- I will usually post an announcement there if we are actively recruiting students to join the lab.
In general, I do not respond to emails concerning admission inquiries. IISc has a well-defined set of admission criteria. If would like to work with me, the first step is to be selected either into the M.Tech., M.Tech. by Research or Ph.D. programs. This involves clearing GATE with a top rank and (for M.Tech by research and Ph.D. candidates) clearing the CSA department's research interview process. The CSA department provides information for prospective students, including GATE cutoffs from prior years.
A Ph.D. is a full-time commitment, and in general, I prefer to work with full-time Ph.D. candidates who have been admitted via IISc's Ph.D. interview process. If I do recruit a ERP Ph.D. student, I will prefer to do so if the ERP student is already employed in a research lab/company where publication in top-tier research venues is actively encouraged as part of the job.
On a daily basis, I get at least a couple of emails from students outside IISc seeking to do an internship with me. I summarily delete all such emails without reading them. Therefore, do not email me your resumes and transcripts! I typically do not select students from outside IISc for short-term internships in my group. When I do select students for internship, I do so via IISc-sponsored programs such as CSA's Narendra Summer Internship program. Note that selection in this program is highly competitive (e.g., we typically receive more than 3000 applications for fewer than 20 vacant positions). Students interested in summer internship positions should send their resumes instead to the Karnataka State Centre of Excellence in CyberSecurity, from where you can get placed in an internship position in industry.
Any open project assistant positions in my lab will be advertised on the CSSL Web page until the position is filled. If any positions are open, please follow the instructions posted on my lab page to submit your resume/CV/transcripts. If shortlisted, you will need to meet me in person for an interview. I will require at minimum a one-year, full-time commitment from you.
