MTech (Computer Science and Engineering)

The MTech (Computer Science and Engineering) programme is the flagship MTech programme of the Computer Science and Automation department.

About the Programme

  • Programme begins in August each year, with a duration of two years, spread over 4 semesters.
  • Students are expected to complete 40 credits of course work (roughly 10 courses), and a project worth 21 credits.
  • Graduating students typically get placed in top IT and R&D companies, join startups, or choose to pursue PhDs in top universities in India and abroad.

Fees and Stipend

  • Students need to pay fees of Rs. 20,800 per year, plus a refundable deposit of Rs 15,000 in the first year.
  • Students receive a stipend of Rs. 12,400 per month.

Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy each of the following criteria:

  • BE/BTech or equivalent, with second class or higher.
  • Valid GATE (CS) score as of 1st August 2026 (i.e. should have written GATE (CS) in 2024, 2025 or 2026).

Application and Selection Process

  • Candidates need to apply online in between 11 Feb and 25 March 2026.
  • Candidates will be selected based only on their GATE score.
  • The institute has introduced a 25% supernumerary quota for women candidates, starting August 2023.
  • Offers will be made on the Common Offer Admissions Portal (COAP).
