Abstract:
The rapid evolution of technologies within and outside a company deeply affect the choice of work we intend to do as our lifes work. As a case study, in this talk, I will give a high-level overview of technologies developed in NVIDIA, and the backdrop in which these technologies evolved. Further, I will give a birds eye view of the implications of the dynamic settings in the current day workplace to doing our lifes work.

Speaker Bio:
Balakrishnan Srinivasan got his Ph.D in 2000 from the Supercomputer Education and Research Center, IISc. From 2001 to 2005, he worked as a senior scientist at the Philips Research Laboratories, The Netherlands, where he primarily worked on vector processing architectures for 3G baseband receivers. From 2005 to 2010 he worked as a principal scientist researching on healthcare applications and later as department head at the Philips Research labs in Bangalore. From 2010-2013 he worked at Morphing Machines as a Principal Researcher attempting to bring new technologies to the market. He has been with NVIDIA since April 2013 as a senior software engineer working in the compiler team that generates code for the GPU.
