Series: Department Seminar
Speaker: Vaidyanathan Srinivasan Distinguished engineer, IBM
Date/Time: Aug 23 11:00:00
Location: CSA Lecture Hall (Room No. 112, Ground Floor)
Abstract:
Enterprise computing is all about bringing together hardware, OS and applications stack to process large volumes of data or transactions with consistency, performance, scale, security and extreme reliability. The compute infrastructure could be running on-premise or in a hybrid cloud. Their key requirements, and challenges are similar and the solution requires innovation across the full stack. Open standards, open hardware and open source software are helping us innovate at a faster phase today and deliver value to our users.
We will cover key aspects of OS that helps enterprise computing like capacity management (scheduling), observability, security, high availability and serviceability.
Speaker Bio:
Vaidyanathan Srinivasan leads Linux on Power systems development at IBM. He is a Distinguished Engineer leading a team of open source developers to build enterprise computing features in Linux including optimizations and scaling for large system configurations. Building observability across the stack from microprocessor and system hardware to OS events helps us understand and push the limits of computing
