We deeply mourn the passing of Prof. M. R. Chidambara, popularly known as Prof. MRC, former Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Automation. He was one of the prominent faculty members involved in building the Department during the early years of School of Automation (the erstwhile name of the Department of CSA). He was the Chairman of the Department during 1987-1990.

Prof. MRC was a scholar in the area of systems and control. He combined intellectual rigour with exceptional clarity in research and teaching, shaping generations of engineers and researchers.

Beyond his scholarly achievements, Prof. MRC will be remembered for his uncompromising principles, discipline, and deep concern for faculty members and students. His legacy lives on in the large number of students he influenced and the enduring impact of his contributions to systems and control.

Professor Chidambara passed away peacefully on Friday March 27th at 1:48pm Pacific Time in Los Angeles, California, USA. Prof. MRC is survived by his sons Madhukar and Mahesh and daughter Chetana.
